What are you donating for?
The International Committee for the Investigation of Torture in Belarus has been in existence since August 2020. During this time, together with The International Accountability Platform for Belarus, we have collected over 20,000 pieces of evidence from 2,270 witnesses. We have released 9 reports and conducted 3 investigations. We have also helped several dozen people (the exact number cannot be disclosed in the interest of the investigation) initiate an investigation into their cases in Lithuania.
In addition, we annually conduct the Week Against Torture — a series of awareness-raising events dedicated to increasing awareness of mass torture in Belarus. You can read about our work in 2022 in this report.
Your donations will help us conduct more investigations and preserve more information about human rights violations and those who commit them. We will be able to document more people and their stories. We will also have the opportunity to help more people come to Lithuania to file statements and initiate investigations into torture.
